As the domestic dog gradually \nemerged from the wild wolf a unique human-animal relationship developed.\n \nThe special bond that we now share with dogs has been explored in many \nchildren\u2019s books. On display outside the Turnbull Library reading rooms \nare stories about working dogs, rescuing heroes and treasured family \nmembers, showing the canine traits we all recognise: courage, obedience,\n willingness to please, playfulness, tenacity, loyalty and \ncompanionship.  \nThe display features titles from the Dorothy Neal White Collection and \nthe National Children\u2019s
