Emeritus Professor Kathryn Walls will introduce the panel discussion. She will be joined by Kate de Goldi, Claire Mabey, Anna Jackson, Harry Ricketts, Dr Tatjana Schaefer, and Dr Vivien van Rij.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Light refreshments are available from 5:30pm. The panel discussion starts at 6pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This free event is hosted by the Friends of the Dorothy Neal White Collection and Victoria University\u2019s International Institute of Modern Letters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All are welcome.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AGM and Constitution Approval<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Members and potential members are cordially invited to this year\u2019s AGM:<br>When: 11 June 2025, 5.30pm for a 6.00pm meeting<br>Where: National Library Tiakiwai Conference Centre, lower ground floor. (Use the<br>Aitken Street entrance)<br>Our business this year includes approving our new Constitution, which the committee<br>has updated to meet the requirements of the Charities Amendment Act 2023. A copy<br>of the Constitution is attached for you to read before the meeting. We will be taking<br>proxy votes from members who are unable to attend when we vote on the motion to<br>accept the updated constitution. Entrance on Aitken Street.<\/a><br>As a young boy Arthur Ransome read the works of Robert Louis Stevenson with enthusiasm, and in his mid-20s he was commissioned to write a biography of Stevenson. What happened to that work? In this talk Kirsty Findlay explores how Arthur Ransome&#8217;s &#8216;Stevenson&#8217; was brought to publication one hundred years later than intended.<br>The speaker, <strong>Kirsty N Findlay<\/strong>, graduate of VUW and Cambridge, was a member of the English Department at VUW and the University of Waikato before eventually heading the Drama examiner team at Trinity College London. PhD candidate Talia<br>\nCrockett\u2019s upcoming dissertation examines a variety of YA novels that explore the<br>\ndiverse traumas of the Holocaust, postcolonial displacement, and parental abuse,<br>\nwhile also exploring the evolution of trauma theory and the resulting shifts in YA<br>\nliterature. The book is adult\nfantasy, but it grew from Hannah\u2019s long-standing interest in\nchildren&#8217;s books, both as an academic and as a reader.
